Girls race too. The competition was hot and heavy as racers as young as 4 ran numerous heats to move to the finals.
Racers wear full safety gear including body armour to maximize protection. Races are monitored carefully and red flagged at the first hint of danger to a young racer.
Ron & Dorothy Wagner (seated) are long time club members and leaders. They are retiring and received an award from the club. Presenting are Norine Brooks, event chairperson, Jim Weyers Treasurer, and John Brantmeier, President.
Red Arrow club members Jim Wysneski, John Brantmeier Ron Popp and Tim Paulsen enjoy breakfast at 2B's in Wabeno. Note the huge waffle with whip cream that Ron was served.
Randy Harden (center) of WATVA poses with Kathy and Roger Steinbach after they received their award for top trail patrol mileage during 2008. Roger and kathy are active in several clubs including Red Arrow.
All the speakers were invited to help with the actual ribbon cutting for the new Nicolet State Recreational trail. Sue Rapp, Townsend Chairperson did the honors by cutting the ribbon and declaring the trail open. This "Multi-Modal" trail is open to ATV's, bicycles and foot traffic in the summer and Snowmobiles in the winter. It stretches over 45 miles from south of Gillett to Laona. Next year a five mile stretch north of Laona will open making it possible to ride or bike all the way to the UP.

Our Ultimate Groomer is the biggest and "baddest" piece of trail grooming equipment in Oconto County. Powered by a 300HP John Deere diesel it easily handles the hilly terrain west and south of Townsend. Give the operators a big "thumbs up" for the time they spend on the trail...usually over 500 hours per year.
Jim Weyers and Dale Ott pose with our club tractor and Dales Skid Steer after a hard day of picking rocks on Wildwood Trail
This is our John Deere 7420 and Ultimate 10 wide foot drag all decked out for the Annual Town of Townsend 4th of July Parade. Red Arrow has been a consistent supporter of the Townsend area for 40 years. Our primary objective has always been to support local businesses by providing 1st class trails in the area. Note club president John Brantmeier's John Deere 2210 parked alongside the club tractor for comparison.

Red Arrow had a tractor trailer full of Vintage Sleds and a 3 wheeler ATV in the 2008 Townsend 4th of July Parade. We are celebrating our 40th Anniversary as a club this year.  Red Arrow Snowmobile Club was founded in the fall of 1968 and has served the Townsend and northern Doty area for all this time.

On the Saturday of Labor Day weekend Red Arrow holds its annual Corn Roast at Kathy's Valley Inn (The bar with the snowmobile on the roof) located just north of Townsend. This fun filled day goes by quickly with games, music, raffles, food and liquid refreshments. This is one of our two major fundraisers...the other is our annul Fish A Ree that is always held the 2nd weekend of February. This year (2009) the dates are Sat Feb 7th and Sunday Feb 8th. Location is the Townsend Town Hall in downtown Townsend. Come join the fun.
Red Arrow members, guests and local citizens enjoy "an afternoon under the tent" at the annual Corn Roast held on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.
