42 YEARS OF SERVICE TO NORTHERN OCONTO COUNTY 1968-2010

2009 Red Arrow Labor Day Corn Roast
Kathy's Valley Inn just north of Townsend

Saturday of Labor Day weekend was a day to remember in Townsend. At 10:30 65 ATVs lined up at Townsend Shell to parade north to kick off the 3rd Annual ATV Picnic & Corn Roast sponsored by Red Arrow Snowmobile ATV Club and Kathy’s Valley Inn. Road crossing assistance was provided by Troy Sherman, Oconto County Recreational Officer and the group arrived safely at 11:00 just as the Picnic was beginning.

The huge crowd spent a sunny summer afternoon enjoying raffles, music and lots of good food and corn. Club President John Brantmeier wants to express a big thank you to Chairpersons Annetta/Wayne Janda and Jerry Cady. Also thanks  to the Corn Roast committee, including Dwight and Linda Ziegler, Dale Ott, Jim Weyers (got us that great corn) and Ron Popp. Thanks to them, the Townsend Fire Department, The Townsend Flowage Association,  Kathy & Willie Evans owners of the Valley Inn, Tom at Sunset Resort and the 90 plus businesses who donated prizes for the event. And of course thanks to all who worked at and/or attended the event. Finally big thanks to Rob Seeber at Townsend Shell who donated $250.00 of Gas Cards and helped organize the ATV parade.

The winner of the 42” LCD TV from Forest TV in Lakewood was club member Kirk Rademaker of Kaukauna, the $250.00 gas prize was won by Tom Derrickson owner of Sunset Resort in Townsend. The $100.00 gas prize was won by Dale Ansorage of Newton and the 5 25.00 gas prizes went to Susan Shirkey of Townsend, Jay/Guy Senkowski of Poynette, Jim Gardapee of Plymouth, Amelia Zielinski of New Berlin and Diane Turk of Pickerel.

A record profit will help the Red Arrow Snowmobile Club maintain their record of having some of the finest snowmobile and ATV trails in this part of the state. 10 unused raffle prize frozen turkeys and hams were donated to the area Food Pantry located at St. John’s Church in Townsend.
